Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, presented the award to David Martin in mid-October at Buckingham Palace in London. The Order of the British Empire recognizes the talents, skills and achievements of extraordinary people who’ve made an impact in the UK.
Under David Martin’s leadership, SMART Technologies created the world’s first interactive whiteboard in 1991 and today, nearly 2.4 million SMART interactive whiteboards are used by more than 50 million students and teachers across the globe. In the UK, SMART’S leadership is especially impressive, with its interactive whiteboards equipped in nearly 90 percent of all public education classrooms in the country.
